The Detective
What's wrong with the shamus? Is he sick? Or dead?
- If the detective is still on his feet, don't read on.
- He's sick; but don't worry, it's not infectious.
- It really is possible to get too much of a good thing, and no one
(except Billy Monday) ever claimed Dr. Nostrum's was a good thing.
- Plainly put, the detective is hammered. Plastered. Bombed. The man is
fou, sozzled, potvaliant, under the table, blind to the world, and one
over the eight. If three sheets to the wind is drunk, he is five or six
sheets to a gale.
