1. They don't seem to be open to negotiation. More direct methods will be necessary.
2. The ray gun is too effective on the nest, and not effective enough against individual groups of Rat-ants (there are just too many).
3. Have you examined the Rat-ants and the nest?
4. The nest is described as "jerry-built" and "precariously stuck together."
5. Although kicking it is not effective, you can destroy it by throwing something fairly heavy at it. While the Rat-ants are rebuilding, you have a chance to take the rod.
